In 2006, New Zealand based designers Rachel Easting and Anjali Stewart put their art and fashion degree backgrounds together to create clothing label, twenty-seven names. The duo cite contemporary art as a basis for their collections, which now have a cult-like following, using modern trends such as lace, crop-tops and underwear as outerwear, and adding their own unique style.
They will be showing for the third time at Air New Zealand fashion week in 2009, with their Winter 2010 collection ‘BUTTER NOT BOMBS’, however twenty-seven names has now branched out from New Zealand, and is stocked in Australia, Hong Kong and the UK (yay!), by online boutique, Bespoke Boutique.
