I don’t mean to wish the summer away, but like most people interested in fashion I’ve been looking forward to winter since the AW10 shows in February, and one of items that is at the top of my “to buy” list is a cape. There is something incredibly regal and chic about wearing a cape, plus they hide a multitude of sins that may appear over the winter months, especially at Christmas (yes I just cursed myself for mentioning Christmas).
Although it is only July I have already noticed many capes coming into the high street in a range of styles, cropped, hooded, patterned, trench and I can guarantee that by the time the temperature drops there will be a lot more. Also, if you don’t want to risk bumping into somebody in the same one, you can always go vintage; capes are a garment that wavered in and out of fashion over the decades so with a little bit of searching you’ll probably find something gorgeous!
