How many times have you looked at your favourite blogger’s outfits and thought, why do I never find clothes like that? Well here is your chance, some of fashions biggest blogger’s have got together to organise a yard sale, on the 22nd August in London, selling off a number of garments that you have probably lusted over before, as well as shoes, accessories and bits and bobs.
Just to get an idea of what you can get your hands on this is a few of the items Style Slicker said she would be selling in her post, “Jimmy Choo’s with a gem missing, used Versace leather bag, 1970s maxi dress, pre year 2004 Japanese magazines, un-opened Barry M pink nail varnish etc”. Also, if that wasn’t enough bargains, there will be a bargain bin selling goods for £1-£3, but make sure you get there early!
I don’t tend to post on music because whilst I love it, I know that it’s not my forte, but this event is just too good not to tell you about. Young and Lost Club Records have launched some amazing artists over the last five years including Bombay Bicycle Club, ExLovers, Golden Silvers, Larrikin Love, Noah and the Whale and one of my absolute favourite bands of all time Good Shoes, and that is just to name a few.
So, to celebrate five years of success they are holding a party at Village Underground in Shoreditch on Wednesday 1st September. There will be live sets from Noah and the Whale, ExLovers, Alan Pownall and Planet Earth as well as DJ sets from a whole host of artists including White Lies, Good Shoes and Pull Tiger Tail. Tickets are only £11 so get your’s before they sell out!

As you may have come to notice, I am bit of a fan of events in the Seven Dials, Covent Garden, due to them usually being a pretty good evening! The next store to host a fabulous shopping evening is Urban Outfitters, who really don’t need an introduction. Their Shake and Bake event is taking place on Thursday 22nd June, from 5pm – 8pm, and will host a whole range of delights.
Upon arriving you will receive a free mini-facial courtesy of the lovely staff at Kiehls, followed by a free cocktail mixed for you by a flair bartender and colourful cupcakes from Vintage Patisserie. If this wasn’t enough as you continue your shopping there will be music from The Young and Lost Club, just to get you in the party mood.
Love jewellery? Love Tatty Devine? Love discount? Love complimentary drinks? Love music? Love frocks? Love festivals? You should probably attend this, I think the flyer says it all!
Usually the Metro isn’t exactly a paper filled with amazing fashion fixes, however on Thursday their Style Counsel announced that they had teamed up with Reiss to bring a super shopping summer event. It takes place on Wednesday 9th June between 6pm-8pm, at the Reiss store in Covent Garden, 8-9 Long Acre, WC2 9LH, and there is plenty going on.
Firstly there is a 10% discount on all goods, and a goodie bag with each purchase whilst stocks last, as well as the chance to win a £250 gift card. On top of all of this there will be complimentary cocktails courtesy of MOOSE and an incredible selection of music from one of my favourites The Paddingtons, Othello Woolf and the Bang Bang Club. Even if you aren’t going for the clothes, take advantage of the music and drinks!
One of the most exciting events on the fashion calendar has to be Graduate Fashion Week, where you can see the fashion designers of the future. There will be approximately 22 university fashion shows from 50 universities across 52 courses, with a range of original and inspiring collections, some of which have been snapped up straight away from some of today’s most iconic companies and stores.
Although most days you can only go if you are trade, it is open in Sunday 6th June to public, so everybody can get in on some of the action. Exhibition only tickets are only £5 and can be bought on the door, and University show tickets are £10, but they are selling out fast! So, if you want to discover the next Stella McCartney or Christopher Bailey, I suggest you get yours now.
Those of you who follow me, will know by now that I am a huge sucker for a good sample sale! Therefore, I was estatic when this landed on my desk (well facebook news feed), Urban Outfitters are having a sample sale, where you can get your hands on menswear, womanswear and homewares. I’ll keep this short so you can let off your excitement sooner rather than later. It takes place on Thursday 27th – Friday 28th May, from 10am-5pm, (ok poor times for us working folk, but worth booking a morning off or having “a doctor appointment” for) just off Oxford Circus. It’s cash only and the full address is:

Happy shopping 🙂
As The Kinks knew when they sang, “…Everywhere the Carnabetian Army marches on, each one a Dedicated Follower of Fashion”, Carnaby Street was home to many fashionistas, 50 years on and not much has changed. With the area hosting many popular stores as well as cult labels, vintage shops and plenty of boutiques, the choice of clothing is huge, as is the range of restaurants and bars.
For one night only, on Thursday 13th May, from 5 – 9pm, Carnaby is coming together to offer you 20% off everything, that includes clothes, beauty, food and drink. In fact, you can get a complimentary cocktail at The Kingly Club’s new 80’s themed night ‘Wild Nobility’, or you can get a whole bag of goodies for free if you head over to the Newburgh quarter. To register for the event you just need to register for your free ticket online, so what are you waiting for?
Whilst looking for an African print dress, much like Tina Kalivas’ designs, but more in my price range, I came across The Ethnic Fashion Show. The concept of the show is to help consumers view ethnic designs not only as a micro trend, but as part of “fashion retail consumer habits”, since the garments on show are built to last a lot longer than the high street pieces they inspire. Some retailers have already started to do this, like ASOS with their ASOS Africa range, a collection designed, sourced and produced by community groups in Africa, but the show aims to raise further awareness.
There will be six very talented, recognised and inspirational designers showing, with the collections containing warm colours, bright shades and vivid combinations. The Ethnic Fashion Show will present new creative ways to re-interpret designs into pieces suitable for high street collections, satisfying a wider range of fashion consumers, without over emphases on ethnicity. The event takes place this Friday evening at the Africa Centre, in Covent Garden, from 6:30pm – 9pm.
One of my favourite areas in London has to be Seven Dials, especially for cute boutiques, huge make up stores, stylish bookshops and tasty food, made even better by the combined village and city vibe given off in the area. Once again the shops are coming together for an amazing event, this time a 20% off evening on Thursday 29th April, which see’s many of the stores participating until from 5pm – 9pm. Along with the small boutiques like The Vintage Showroom and bigger companies like Urban Outfitters there are plenty of eateries participating, I highly recommend trying out Candy Cakes!
You need to register for the event, which will get you a voucher that you have to show throughout the night, meaning passing tourists will not be clogging up the shops trying to pass the time. There will also be 3 goodie bags given away on the night, each worth £150, so if you have quite a few bags make them obvious to the Seven Dials staff that will be around, as they will be targeting “bag-laden” shoppers. Check out the website for the full list of participating stores, there are too many for me to mention!
